Guided Trips:
The Barrow
Irish Canoe Kayak run trips on various sections of the Barrow from Athy down to where it meets the Sea at Dunmore East, Co. Waterford.

The Barrow Classic (Graiguenamagh to St. Mullins)
This trip is an absolute classic and one that most kayakers in the south east will have done some time in there paddling careers it is a great little run consisting of 5 weirs and 2 Rapids broken by stunning sections of Mirror Like water where you encounter various forms of wild life from the Herring to the Stunning King Fisher and the Otters which occasionally pop up to say hello. And if you don’t fancy the white water sections we can bypass them by using the 200 year old canal system where you will experience what it is like to go up and down in the locks passing through the Lock gates.
This trip involves a shuttle at the start so we have transport at the end in St Mullins where you can have a tea or Coffee or some homemade cakes or breads in the Café right at the get out. This trip can be done in Kayaks or Canoes we will advise you on what we feel is best for your group at time of booking!
Tour Duration Roughly 4 Hours

Clash (Clashganny)
The Clash Trip is another Barrow classic and is where we use most frequently for our teaching and coaching courses as the features lend themselves so well to this. This section of he River Barrow also lends itself to the perfect trip area if you are a first timer or just looking for a 2-3 hour experience with no hassle of having to do Shuttles at the start.
This tour involves 2 weirs and 2 sets of rapids, Starting in a old canal Harbour we will show you how to control the kayaks or canoes so that you can make the most of the trip from here we will then bring you up through the lock gates which raise us up about 4 meters to river level from here we will encounter our first weir. Each of the weirs can be run multiple times and you guide on the day will make a call as to which would be more suitable to do afew times and show you different ways to tackle it should you wish to try it out. After the weirs we are into the first set of Rapids a long 150-200 meter long rapid we pull in at the end of the rapid and if you are not wet yet well now its time for that to change as we show you the skill of Defensive swimming a technique used by paddlers the world over to keep themselves safe while swimming down a rapid. You guide will make the final decision on whether or not it is suitable for your group to do on the day of your trip. From here its back in the boats down one more rapid and then into the canal to make use of the lock gates and have a chilled out paddle to the top!
